In pet food production, a single processing line may need to handle products with varying net weights, granule sizes, and packaging formats. If the weighing method is not well-matched to the characteristics of the granules, it can lead to issues such as uneven product feed, longer wait times during the weighing process, poor material flow, or inconsistent filling levels within the packaging.
This doypack packaging machinery utilizes a multihead combination weighing system, which breaks down the weighing process into the coordinated operation of multiple independent weighing units. The system analyzes real-time weight data from each weigh hopper to select the optimal combination, subsequently discharging the precise amount of material into the corresponding package. Compared to methods that rely on a single hopper for repeated weighing, this configuration significantly enhances parallel processing capabilities during the weighing stage.

First, the granular pet food is fed into the distribution area of ​​a multihead weigher. The distribution system routes the product into various feed channels, where individual weigh hoppers receive a specific quantity of the granules-as determined by a programmed sequence-and use load cells to provide real-time weight feedback.
Based on the target package weight and the measurements from each weigh hopper, the control system calculates the optimal combination of weights. Once a suitable combination is identified that meets the established criteria, the corresponding weigh hoppers open their discharge gates, releasing the product into the collection/guiding area below.
Simultaneously, the pre-made bag packaging mechanism retrieves and positions a bag. After the bag opening is secured, the system-upon confirming that all station-specific conditions are met-executes the filling process, depositing the weighed granules into the bag. Following filling, the bag moves to the sealing station, where a heat-sealing assembly-operating according to preset process parameters-seals the opening, after which the finished product is discharged.

The opening and closing mechanism of the weigh hopper controls the release of the metered material. The smoothness of the hopper door's operation and the stability of its closed position can affect the subsequent feeding process as well as the amount of material left behind as residue.

The pouch-clamping assembly is used to maintain the positioning of the packaging pouch as it moves between different workstations. The clamping position is adapted to the width of the pouch, helping to ensure consistency in the orientation of the pouch opening and the filling position.

Electrical and pneumatic systems provide control and drive support for the equipment's actuators. Their configuration influences how actions such as bag retrieval, gripping, opening, and sealing are coordinated.
